Common questions
Why does Safari mention website contents and browsing history?
Safari describes what website access can allow an extension to do. Back To Top needs page access to add its floating button and change the scroll position. The current app does not read form values, collect passwords, or record or send your browsing history to the developer. You control access in Safari’s extension settings.
The floating button does not appear. What should I check?
Check that Back To Top is enabled in Safari → Settings → Extensions, and that the current website is allowed. Try a normal HTTP or HTTPS webpage: Safari’s internal pages and some protected views do not allow extensions. If Hide when scrolling is unnecessary is enabled, scroll down. After updating the extension, refresh an existing page once.
My selected style has not appeared yet.
Select a style in the companion app; it saves automatically. Switch to Safari and allow a few seconds for the page to receive the setting. Refresh pages opened before an extension update. If it still does not change, include your app version and Safari version in a support email.
How do I move the button or change its visibility?
Drag the button to another position; a normal click returns to the top. The position is remembered on your device. In the app, select the hide-at-top checkbox if you only want the button after scrolling down.
Which language does the button use?
The app follows the system language by default. Its language menu lets you select English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish or Italian. The page button follows this choice. This website’s language selector only changes the website.
Open Safari Settings did not open the settings window.
You can open it directly: Safari → Settings → Extensions, then select Back To Top. The app retries opening settings when necessary, but Safari or macOS may still require you to open the window manually.
