How the Back To Top app, Safari extension, this website and support email handle information.

Last updated ·

The app and your browsing

The current Back To Top app and extension have no account system, advertising, analytics or remote data collection. They do not send webpage contents, passwords, form values or browsing history to the developer. The extension operates on permitted pages to show its button and control scrolling.

Settings on your device

Your chosen style, language, visibility preference and button position are saved locally on your device. The app and extension exchange settings locally to keep the button up to date. These settings are not uploaded to the developer. Change them in the app; removing the app and extension can leave preferences that macOS or Safari manages.

Why Safari asks for access

Website access lets the extension add a floating control and change scrolling on the sites you allow. Storage keeps preferences; native messaging exchanges preferences with the companion app; active-tab and scripting permissions support actions on the current page. Safari’s warning describes a permission’s potential scope, rather than a record of collected data. Review or revoke access in Safari → Settings → Extensions.

This website

These pages use no analytics, advertising, tracking cookies or third-party fonts. A manually chosen language is saved in this site’s local browser storage; clear site data to remove it. Visiting the website makes normal web requests. The hosting provider may process technical access logs, including IP addresses and request information, for delivery and security.

When you contact us

If you email support, we receive your email address and the message and attachments you send. We use them to respond and investigate your request; our email providers also process the correspondence. Do not send passwords or sensitive page contents. Contact the same address to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to applicable retention requirements.

External services

The App Store link opens Apple’s service, whose privacy policy applies there. The websites you visit in Safari handle their own data under their own policies. Back To Top does not sell your personal information or send app usage data to an analytics service.
